Notes:
- This file is a barebone html file with no style sheet attached. The test area above shows Japanese text: a header (should show up as bold), some body text in a paragraph, with some bolded (using the
strong tag) text in it.
- This file works correctly in Safari but fails in Omniweb 5.0 (based on the older Webcore v85). Again: no stylesheet attached here, and especially relevant, no font-family declared. Now, head over to the second test; in this we add one simple rule:
body {font-family:sans-serif;}.
- On my Mac (running OS X 10.3), the font-family in use is Lucida Grande (set via the browser preferences). The Japanese text uses the Hiragino font-family.
- The test files are sent with a
charset=utf-8 header; using shift_jis doesn't modify the test results.
